-Welcome to Mersham Manor Antiques-
A most charming 17th century, oak pegged construction, hanging livery cupboard, wardrobe.
c 1680.
Having two panelled doors, with beautiful original carvings to the front, which open to reveal to the left side a later added brass hanging rail with four brass hooks to the back. There is a partition between the two spaces with the right side having a later added adjustable shelf with sliding hanging rail beneath. There are three options of height for the shelf.
Would make an excellent hall coat cupboard, with space in the base for boots and shoes. Or because of the hanging rails a bedroom wardrobe.
The cupboard comes in two parts, making it easier to manoeuver. The top door section lifts up off of the base chest section.
The character to this charming cupboard is wonderful, having a lovely rich colour and patina.
The back of the cupboard is also wonderful, showing the original timbers which are wonderfully thick and rustic.
Standing on stile feet.
The overall condition is excellent antique condition. With expected general signs of age and use.
Very solid sturdy and strong.
Having developed a wonderful rich colour and glowing patina.
