Regency glassware, dating from the early 19th century, is characterised by classical proportions, clean neoclassical lines, and often incorporates rich colours like emerald green or cobalt blue alongside light cutting or fluting.

These pieces were typically crafted from lead glass or potash-lime glass, with metallic oxides added to the molten batch to achieve distinct hues such as green. Items were often hand-blown into moulds and finished with hand-polished facets or flutes.

Authentic pieces often exhibit pontil scars on the base where the glassblowers rod was detached, alongside minor surface irregularities, tiny air bubbles trapped within the glass, and characteristic wear consistent with age.

These items can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets as focal points of colour or used functionally on a dining table to introduce historic texture and a rich jewel tone to contemporary settings.

Antique glassware should always be washed by hand in lukewarm water using a mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes, and dried carefully with a lint-free cloth. Never place them in a dishwasher.
