Victorian art glass is characterised by innovative chemical formulations, experimentation with colour, and ornate decorative techniques developed by master glasshouses.

Neodymium oxide, often called alexandrite glass, was integrated into the silica batch to produce pieces that shift in tone depending on the light source.

Authentication relies on examining pontil marks, weight, chemical reactions under specific lighting, and characteristic maker signatures or stylistic manufacturing traits.

These pieces can be displayed on stands within cabinet shelving or utilised as accent display items on occasional furniture to catch ambient light.

Antique glass should be hand washed gently in lukewarm water with mild detergent and dried immediately with a soft, lint-free cloth.
