Georgian Silver Black Dot Paste Pendant

£275    $352    €332
This large antique pendant started out as a different piece of Georgian jewellery, possibly a hat pin or button, and has at some time been converted to a very wearable piece with a gold bail which can be hung on a chain or ribbon.

The pendant is solid silver, set with beautiful sparkling old foil-backed black dot pastes, mainly lovely cushion cuts. The Georgians (c.1714-1837) would paint a black dot on the bottom end of paste stones (the culet) to help give an illusion of depth and make them look more like real diamonds as they glittered in the candlelight.

In very good antique condition, with a little wear and tiny nicks to some of the stones when seen under magnification.

Size: Approximately 2.6cm, 3cm total length including the bail.

Weight: 5.8g.

We currently have a number of lovely Georgian pieces just in (see final photo) which are being added to the shop, see our other listings for more details :)
