One panel inscribed ‘JL’ beneath a heraldic boars head. Having a large loop handle. The glass cover, inscribed ‘From Leiut. Col. J. Lardner. To his friend. B.H.H.Birchill, Esq. 1860’. The silver mounts with an elaborate thumb piece of a lion rampant before an oak tree, symbolic of strength and courage.
Having London hallmarks.
Height – 19 cm, 7 1/2”.
Width – 14.7 cm, 5 3/4”.
Condition – No damage. No repair.
