A rummer is a heavy-stemmed drinking glass popular in British taverns and homes during the 18th and 19th centuries, primarily used for serving rum, ale, or wine.

These pieces were typically crafted from lead glass or flint glass, often blown into a mould and finished with a polished pontil mark on the underside of the heavy foot.

Authentic examples exhibit characteristic signs of age such as surface wear, air bubbles within the metal of the glass, a pontil scar on the base, and a heavier overall weight compared to modern reproductions.

Displaying historical glassware on open wooden shelving, a sideboard top, or a bar cart adds texture, historical depth, and functional elegance to modern living spaces.

Wash antique glass gently by hand using lukewarm water and mild detergent, avoiding harsh scrubbing or sudden temperature changes to protect the fragile historical material.
