FAQs

French desk lamps from the late 19th and early 20th centuries often drew inspiration from classical and art nouveau designs, focusing on both functional task lighting and decorative elegance.

Authentic period lamps typically feature cast brass frames, weighted bases for stability, and hand-blown or etched glass shades in pink, amber, or green tones.

Authenticity is generally identified by traditional casting methods, patina on the brass, hand-etched glass details, and period-appropriate wiring or fittings.

Position the lamp on a timber desk or side table to introduce a warm metallic accent and ambient task lighting that complements both traditional and contemporary schemes.

Clean the brass gently with a soft microfibre cloth to preserve the natural patina, avoiding harsh chemical polishes. Clean the glass shade using mild soapy water and dry thoroughly.
