Victorian glassware is characterised by rich colours, heavy ornamentation, and advancements in manufacturing techniques such as pressing and mould-blowing.

Makers utilised lead metal or soda-lime glass combined with metallic oxides like manganese or gold to achieve deep hues such as amethyst.

Authentication involves examining pontil marks on the base, surface wear patterns, weight distribution, and characteristic colour saturation unique to historical batch formulas.

Displaying antique glass inside illuminated cabinets or as a singular colour accent on open shelving introduces historic texture and rich tones into contemporary spaces.

Wash pieces gently by hand using lukewarm water and mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and abrasive materials to protect the historic surface.
