Opaque twist wine glasses feature intricate enamel threads encased within the glass stem, a technique historically revived and mastered by European glasshouses in the 19th and early 20th centuries, drawing inspiration from 18th-century English lead glass traditions.

These items are crafted from lead crystal or high-grade potash glass, shaped using free-blowing or mould-blowing techniques, with internal opaque white or coloured glass rods manipulated to form multi-ply or single-series spiral twists within the stem.

Authentic pieces exhibit characteristics such as pontil marks on the underside of the foot, minor surface wear consistent with age, subtle variations in hand-formed dimensions, and the specific optical purity and weight typical of historical glass production.

Antique stemware can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets as part of a curated collection, or used purposefully on a dining table to introduce tactile historical texture and refined craftsmanship to a modern setting.

Antique glass should always be washed by hand in lukewarm water using a mild, non-abrasive detergent, and dried carefully with a lint-free cloth to prevent thermal shock and protect delicate structural features.
