Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco barware from the 1920s and 1930s blends functional design with understated geometric or reeded ornamentation. Clean contours, stepped profiles, and high-shine polished metal finishes define pieces produced during this period.

Antique trays were typically produced from solid sterling silver or base metals electroplated with silver, known as EPNS (Electroplated Nickel Silver). The raised rims were frequently cast or hand-chased to reinforce structural integrity and contain spills.

Authentic items by James Dixon & Sons usually display clear stamped manufacturers marks on the base. Look for JD & S, sometimes accompanied by a trumpet logo with a banner, or specific makers cataloguing numbers alongside material grade stamps like EPNS.

A polished silver tray serves as a grounding base for glassware, decanters, and cocktail tools on a bar cart, sideboard, or coffee table. It can also be placed on an ottoman to provide a stable, level surface for decorative accessories.

Wash silver-plated trays gently in warm water with mild dish soap and dry immediately with a soft cloth to avoid water spotting. Apply a dedicated silver polish with a soft sponge periodically to remove tarnish, avoiding abrasive pads that could wear down the silver layer.
