Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

French bronze figural lamps are sculpted light fixtures created primarily during the nineteenth century that combine artistic statuary with functionality. These pieces frequently depict allegorical figures, mythological characters, or historical subjects, crafted using lost-wax or sand-casting methods before being fitted for gas or electrical illumination.

These lamps were constructed primarily from cast bronze alloys, which were hand-chased to refine surface detail and treated with chemical patinas to achieve dark brown, black, or green finishes. Bases were frequently fashioned from polished marble or slate, while light diffusers were crafted from frosted or blown glass.

Authentic period bronzes generally exhibit cold-worked hand chasing, crisp details in drapery and hair, and organic wear patterns on the patina consistent with age. Original pieces frequently feature cast or incised sculptor signatures, alongside foundry stamps from Parisian workshops.

A bronze figural lamp functions as a focal point when positioned on a minimalist console table, sideboard, or desk. Pairing dark patinated metal against neutral wall backdrops and modern joinery creates a balanced contrast between historic artwork and clean architectural lines.

Dust the bronze figure regularly using a soft, dry microfibre cloth or a soft-bristled brush to clean crevices. Avoid liquid metal polishes or chemical cleansers, as these strip the original chemical patina; a light application of microcrystalline wax can be applied periodically to protect the metal surface.
