A stunning 19th century French silvered spelter figural lamp with a glass shell shade. It is mounted on a shaped sienna marble base. It is signed Aug Moreau (1834 - 1917) The base with a titled plaque ' Amphitrite' par Aug Moreau, Salon des Beau Arts 1897'.

'Amphitrite' the goddess of the sea, wife of the god Poseidon.

This wonderful sculpture is in very good condition with just slight wear as in keeping with its age.

It is a fantastic size.

This late nineteenth-century French Art Nouveau figural table lamp originates from the period around 1890. Rendered in dark silvered spelter, the sculpture depicts a draped female figure holding aloft a white flame glass shade, accompanied by a cherub beside her feet upon a shaped sienna marble base. The base has a titled plaque reading 'Amphitrite' par Aug Moreau, Salon des Beaux Arts 1897, and the sculpture is signed by Auguste Moreau. The physical dimensions measure 90 cm high, 41 cm wide, and 31 cm deep. Positioned on a sideboard top in a home interior, this piece functions as a decorative lighting fixture with French Chateau design influences. The dark metallic finish complements the mottled yellow tones of the marble plinth and the translucent white of the glass shade. Slight wear consistent with age is present on the surface.
