Vaseline glass is a type of glass produced by adding uranium oxide to the glass batch as a colouring agent, typically resulting in a transparent yellow or yellow-green hue that fluoresces brightly under ultraviolet light.

Nineteenth-century stemware was typically produced using lead or soda-lime glass formulations, often shaped via free-blowing, mould-blowing, or pressing techniques, followed by hand-finishing of the stem and foot.

Authentic pieces exhibit a characteristic translucent green or yellow tone, a distinct oily lustre, and a vibrant green fluorescence when exposed to 365nm UV or blacklight due to the uranium content.

Coloured glassware can be displayed on open shelving, within glass-fronted cabinets, or used as single-stem floral vessels to introduce subtle pops of historical colour and texture into contemporary spaces.

Antique glass should be washed by hand in lukewarm water using a mild detergent, avoiding harsh scrubbing or sudden temperature changes, and should never be placed in a dishwasher.
