Outstanding quality antique Victorian burr walnut Bonheur de Jour writing desk having a beautifully designed and shaped top glazed cabinet to the centre which opens to reveal a fitted mirror and shelf interior with elegant ormolu mounts to the sides, one long burr walnut drawer below with attractive tulipwood crossbanding and flanked by tulipwood crossbanded burr walnut drawers with pretty original brass gilded handles and galleries. The base boasts a magnificent burr walnut inlaid shaped top with a double moulded edge and shaped frieze with a centre drawer having shaped sides. It is raised elegantly on four shaped cabriole legs with superior ormolu mounts to the top and feet, back legs are united by an unusual shaped burr walnut mirror which truly complements this wonderful example.
