Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 1850 Rococo Revival candelabrum table lamp stands 60 cm high, 30 cm wide, and 30 cm deep. Constructed from gilt bronze, brass, and fabric, the fixture exhibits a lustrous gold finish with a rich patination across its metallic surfaces. Four flared fabric shades with pleated panels sit atop individual candle holders. The ornate structure rests upon a carved and scroll-footed base, rising through a twisted trifoil birdcage section into twisted acanthus-leaved arms that curve outward in graceful S-scrolls. Today, this French Chateau-style piece functions as a striking accent light for placement on a sideboard top, bringing warm illumination and decorative presence to a living room, dining room, or hallway. The electrified conversion incorporates a silk braided cord while preserving the original character of the metalwork.

FAQs

A candelabra lamp is a multi-branch lighting fixture originally designed to hold candles, often converted or manufactured for electricity, featuring cast metal arms and ornate decorative motifs popularised in 18th-century France.

These fixtures were typically cast in bronze or brass using the lost-wax process and finished with fire-gilding or lacquer to achieve a durable golden metallic surface.

Authentic pieces display hand-chased surface detailing, cast seam lines from historical moulding techniques, significant weight due to solid metal construction, and natural oxidisation in crevices.

Position the fixture as a focal point on a dark wood sideboard, marble-topped console table, or side table to contrast ornate metallic details against clean, contemporary backdrop walls.

Dust gently with a soft dry cloth or horsehair brush, avoiding abrasive chemical cleaners or metal polish that can strip original gilding, lacquers, or historical patination.
