This is a Georgian balustroid gin glass dating from the early to mid 18th century, c1740.
The glass is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows the age related wear and tear to both the rim of the bowl and to the rim of the foot consistent with 250+ years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot.
The glass has a bell-shaped bowl measuring 5.5 cm (2.2 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is plain and sits on a balustroid stem with a shoulder knop, an inverted baluster and a small basal knop. The stem leads to a conical, folded foot that measures 6.2 cm (2.5 inches) in diameter. The glass is 13 cm (5.2 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. There is a small unburst bubble in the metal of the bowl just under the rim.
It is made from English lead metal. It weighs 85 g. (~ 3 oz.).
