Havard and Havard has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The lower part has a broad, finely detailed waist moulding above two tiers of drawers, on a single piece, shaped plinth. Old but later brassware. Cardiganshire, circa 1760-1780.

The scrolls on the door panels are similar to ones we have come across on the door panels of a cwpwrdd deuddarn from Cardiganshire. The lower part with its five drawer arrangement in two tiers and the single-piece plinth with its oversized bracket feet are features often found on the low, Cardigan/Carmarthen “coffers” from the Teifi valley.
