George III English Provincial Silver Snuff Box, Newcastle 1795

An exceptionally rare George III English Provincial silver snuff box. Made in Newcastle around 1795 by John Robertson I. This oval snuff box has hallmarks on the base and lid but as with many Newcastle pieces there is no date letter. It has a vacant cartouch on the bottom and a crest on the top. The interior is gilded with a little corrosion and hallmarks. Generally the box is in excellent condition and a rare addition to any collection. The hinge is tight and the lid closes tightly.
