Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Georgian cupboard bookcase combines a glazed upper section and a panelled lower cupboard base, rendered in a rich warm brown mahogany timber. The tall piece displays a moulded cornice above a single glazed door enclosing internal shelving, positioned over a lower cabinet with a single wooden door fitted with a small round metal handle. Subtle variations in tone mark the surface, alongside visible wear on the edges and corners reflecting its antique character. Standing 229 cm high, 91 cm wide, and 45 cm deep, this practical shelving unit suits a traditional study, home library, or living space for storing books and display items.

FAQs

A glazed cupboard bookcase is a vertical storage unit combining a glass-fronted upper cabinet for displaying books or objects with a solid wooden lower cupboard for enclosed storage.

Nineteenth-century bookcases were primarily constructed from solid hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, or walnut, featuring hand-cut glass panes, brass escutcheons, and hand-joined timber backing boards.

Authentic period pieces display evidence of historical craftsmanship, including hand-cut dovetail joints, original glass with subtle irregularities or ripples, hand-planed back panels, and age-consistent wear around handles and hinges.

A tall glazed cabinet functions well in living rooms, dining spaces, or home offices, offering vertical storage for curated ceramics, glassware, or leather-bound volumes while anchoring a quiet corner.

Dust the timber regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and apply beeswax periodically to nourish the wood finish, while cleaning glass panes with a mild cleaner applied directly to the cloth rather than the glass.
