Holmes Antiques has dated this Antique Oak Coffer Bach to the 18th Century.
The patch to the back left hand corner of the top is original and covering a knotted area in the wood. This is a particularly good example of this form of small welsh coffer having the shaped feet, inlaid stars and chequered banding to both the plank front and drawer.

The George I plate brass handles are of the period but not original. The original top is the typical removable type associated with these coffers and has wooden hinges. One drawer bottom board has been replaced.
