We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian silver is characterised by eclectic revivalism, heavy ornamentation, and detailed hand-engraving, drawing inspiration from Rococo, Gothic, and Renaissance motifs.

These pieces were typically forged from sterling silver, adhering to the strict 925 fineness standard, often featuring heat-insulating spacers made of wood, ivory, or bone on the handles.

Authenticity is verified through clear hallmarks stamped on the metal, which include the makers mark, standard mark indicating sterling silver, city assay office mark, and a date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture.

Displaying the piece as a focal point on a sideboard or within a glass-fronted cabinet introduces a layer of historical contrast and polished metallic texture to modern spaces.

Care involves gentle dusting with a soft microfibre cloth and occasional polishing with a specialised non-abrasive silver cream, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can strip away desirable patination.
