Description

These Good Quality Mahogany and Brass Bookshelves would make a statement wherever they are placed in a room and would showcase whatever you decide to display on them. The Mahogany shelves are of a glorious rich hue that offsets the brass so well.

Standing on elegant brass turned legs, the shelves are supported by reeded columns with cross braces for added strength. The top shelf also has a brass gallery around it to further enhance the pieces, as well as usefully stopping any item rolling off.

Presented in excellent restored condition and would work well in both a traditional as well as contemporary décor.

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

These pieces frequently draw inspiration from Regency and neoclassical design periods, characterised by clean architectural lines, refined timber, and polished metal accents.

They are traditionally constructed using dense hardwoods such as mahogany paired with cast or extruded brass fixtures, often featuring pegged joints or secure metal fixings for stability.

Authenticity is assessed by examining timber grain patination, hand-cut joinery methods, the weight and composition of the brass elements, and natural wear patterns consistent with age.

The combination of dark wood and metallic highlights allows the unit to serve as a sophisticated focal point, pairing well with neutral wall colours and curated collections of books and objects.

Maintain the finish by dusting with a soft cloth, applying quality beeswax periodically to nourish the timber, and using non-abrasive cleaners on the brass elements to prevent tarnish.
