Edwardian design, spanning the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, frequently incorporates lighter, more delicate motifs inspired by 18th-century French styles, contrasting with the heavier ornamentation of the preceding Victorian era.

These items were typically constructed using sterling silver for the lids and mounts, combined with heavy-cut lead crystal or glass for the body, often featuring hand-chased or embossed decoration.

Authenticity is determined by examining the British hallmarks stamped on the silver, which indicate the assay office, standard mark, and date letter, alongside the characteristic weight and hand-cut facets of the crystal body.

Place the piece on a dressing table, mantlepiece, or open shelf to add a reflective metallic accent and a touch of historical craftsmanship to contemporary spaces.

Clean the crystal using warm soapy water and a soft brush, while treating the silver with a non-abrasive silver polish, taking care to avoid harsh chemical dips that can damage historical patination.
