This Victorian Neoclassical table lamp stands as a refined addition to a traditional interior, combining cast brass and clear glass elements. The construction features a stepped square plinth base in a mixture of gold brass and gilding, supporting a clear diamond-cut glass column shaft that terminates in a detailed cast brass Corinthian capital adorned with acanthus leaf carving. A standard brass lamp holder and threaded finial sit atop the classical capital, reflecting its heritage as an oil lamp conversion from around 1890. Measuring 58 cm high, 16 cm wide and 16 cm deep, the compact footprint suits placement on a gentleman's library desk, a living room sideboard top or a bedside table. The golden tones of the metalwork contrast with the sparkling clarity of the patterned glassware, creating an elegant lighting accent for period spaces.

The Corinthian column lamp draws inspiration from classical Greek and Roman architecture, incorporating a decorative capital sculpted with acanthus leaves atop a vertical shaft and stepped plinth base.

These lamps were typically constructed from cast brass, bronze, cut glass, lead crystal, or polished marble to achieve weight, stability, and reflective qualities.

Authentic pieces exhibit heavy cast metal components, detailed crisp relief carving on the capital leaves, natural oxidisation on the brass surfaces, and substantial weight at the base.

Position the lamp on a dark wood sideboard, console table, or executive desk to introduce classical architectural lines and contrasting metallic textures within a room scheme.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth. Avoid abrasive chemical cleansers on brass surfaces to preserve natural patination, and clean glass sections with a slightly dampened cloth.
