Why Sellingantiques dated this piece to THE EDWARDIAN ERA:
Cast brass arrow mounts: neoclassical styling favoured in the early twentieth century.
Blue and white ceramic classical medallions: popular Edwardian Adam revival decorative detail.
Tarnishing and mellowing across the brass: decades of natural oxidisation.
Modern three-core colour-coded wiring: updated for contemporary domestic safety.

This is an independent date report produced by Sellingantiques using its own proprietary system. The process uses the photographs shown on this page. The system is never told the date the dealer has declared. This report shows that the two dates corroborate.

This pair of Edwardian Neoclassical wall lights brings traditional styling to interiors. Each sconce is made from brass with a warm metallic finish, featuring a central arrow-shaped backplate, twin curving arms, and decorative blue and white ceramic jasperware medallions with classical figures in relief. The lights are fitted with tall candle sleeves that hold candle-shaped bulbs, with exposed wires and tags visible on the fixtures. Re-wired and PAT tested, these pieces bring a refined decorative presence to any room. Each light measures 32.3 cm high, 26 cm wide, and 8 cm deep. Ideal for adding traditional character, these sconces can be hung in living rooms, hallways, or dining spaces. They sit well above a sideboard, flanking a mirror, or positioned either side of a fireplace mantelpiece to provide soft accent lighting.

Edwardian Neoclassical lighting draws inspiration from late 18th-century motifs, featuring symmetrical forms, classical arrows, swags, and ceramic or jasperware medallions depicting classical figure studies.

These fixtures were predominantly crafted from cast or pressed brass, paired with stoneware or jasperware relief inserts, and fitted with card or cream-coloured faux candle sleeves.

Authentic period examples exhibit cast brass construction with naturally aged surface patina, crisp relief details on ceramic inserts, and evidence of historical re-wiring alongside original thread joinery.

Pairing wall lights on either side of a central mirror, artwork, or fireplace mantelpiece creates visual balance in dining rooms, hallways, and formal reception spaces.

Clean brass components gently with a dry microfibre cloth to preserve surface oxidation, avoiding chemical abrasives or water contact near jasperware ceramic medallions.
