In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Arts and Crafts lighting emerged in the late 19th century as a response to industrial mass production, emphasizing hand craftsmanship, honest construction, and organic forms. Fixtures frequently featured stylised botanical motifs, hand-hammered metals, and visible joinery.

Craftsmen predominantly utilized hand-forged wrought iron, hammered copper, brass, and bronze. These metals were often combined with leaded glass, opalescent shades, or fabric covers to diffuse warm light.

Authentic pieces exhibit evidence of manual construction, such as slight surface irregularities from hand-hammering, hand-cut copper plates, and riveted metal joinery. Natural oxidisation and original aged patination on metal surfaces also signal historical authenticity.

These sconces function effectively when installed in pairs to flank a central architectural element, such as a fireplace mantel or hallway mirror. The warm metallic tones complement both traditional timber joinery and contemporary neutral plasterwork.

Dust metalwork regularly using a clean, soft microfibre cloth without abrasive chemicals, which can strip historic patination. Electrical components should be evaluated and safely updated by a qualified electrician prior to installation.
