This French table lamp originates from the 1930 period in a French Neoclassical style. It comprises a bronze construction with a gold finish, complemented by a beige fabric rectangular shade. The piece displays a tapered candlestick stem mounted upon a scalloped base, with turned decorative elements near the foot and top of the column. It measures 43 cm high, 12 cm wide, and 12 cm deep. Suitable for placement on a sideboard top, this fitting integrates well into a French Chateau interior scheme. The wiring has been renewed to modern standards, presenting the item in clean working condition for domestic settings.

FAQs

French neoclassical table lamps draw design inspiration from classical Greco-Roman architecture, featuring balanced proportions, tapered column stems, and refined cast details.

These fixtures are typically crafted from cast bronze or heavy brass, often finished with gilding or dark patination, and paired with fabric or silk shades.

Authentic pieces exhibit heavy weight, hand-chased decorative details, age-appropriate patination, and threaded cast components rather than modern stamped metals.

Place the lamp on a dark wood sideboard, console table, or writing desk to create visual contrast and introduce warm directional lighting to a modern space.

Dust the metal body regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and avoid harsh chemical polishes that can remove the original surface patination.
