A Georgian silver medical funnel is a small silver vessel produced during the 18th or early 19th century, designed to precisely pour liquid medicines, tinctures, or oils into small apothecary bottles.

These funnels were typically hand-raised from solid sterling silver, featuring a smooth conical bowl attached to a narrow tapered spout to prevent chemical reactivity with liquids.

Authentic pieces feature standard British hallmarks indicating silver purity, the duty mark, the town mark, and the makers mark alongside characteristic hand-hammered or hand-spun metalwork construction from the era.

An antique silver funnel can be displayed on a cabinet shelf, styled alongside antique glass bottles, or placed on a tray within a study or library setting.

Silver funnels require gentle polishing with a specialised silver cloth and mild detergent washing to remove surface dirt without stripping natural oxidisation from recessed areas.
