During the late Victorian era, silver-mounted easel mirrors became popular luxury accoutrements for aristocratic dressing tables, often featuring elaborate Rococo revival repousse decoration.

These pieces typically consist of a hallmarked sterling silver front frame mounted onto a wooden back clad in velvet or leather, holding a thick bevelled glass mirror plate.

Authentic examples bear clear English silver hallmarks, including the makers mark W.C for William Comyns, alongside the lion passant, city mark for London, and specific date letter.

Place the mirror on a bedroom dressing table, a marble bathroom counter, or a hallway sideboard to create a focal point with historic metalwork texture.

Clean the silver frame gently using a soft polishing cloth and specialised silver cream, avoiding contact with the fabric backing and ensuring moisture does not seep behind the mirror glass.
