Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of French Chinoiserie table lamps originates from the 1920 period. Each lamp consists of a multi-coloured Chinese export porcelain vase mounted on an ornate cast brass base with bracket feet, fitted with a pleated cream linen shade and rewired for contemporary home use. The porcelain displays intricate Famille rose enamels, figural panel paintings, and delicate patterns in pink, green, blue, and gold tones. The solid brass hardware includes stepped mouldings and a slender neck leading to the lamp fitting. The pieces are presented in clean, excellent overall condition. Measuring 61 cm in height with a 13 cm diameter, or 44 cm without the shades, these lamps fit well in various domestic settings. They suit placement upon a living room sideboard top, a pair of matching bedside tables, or a grand hallway console table to provide warm, ambient illumination while adding a distinct decorative focal point to interior spaces.

FAQs

Chinese export porcelain table lamps are decorative lighting fixtures created using ceramic vases manufactured in China for European export, which were subsequently fitted with metal bases, electrical components, and shades.

These lamps typically feature hand-painted hard-paste porcelain decorated with overglaze enamel finishes, cast brass or gilt bronze (ormolu) mounts, and fabric or paper shades.

Authentic pieces feature hand-applied polychrome enamels, minor surface irregularities characteristic of historical kiln firing, and cast metal bases tailored specifically to the ceramic foot rim.

Position them symmetrically on a sideboard, console table, or bedside drawers to introduce pattern, historical detail, and structured lighting into modern or traditional room schemes.

Dust the porcelain section regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, clean metal mounts with a soft brush avoiding abrasive polishes, and ensure electrical wiring is checked by a qualified professional.
