Late 19th-century enamel lamps feature metal bases coated with vitreous enamel, often decorated with hand-painted or cloisonne floral and figurative motifs inspired by global design traditions.

These lamps typically comprise a cast copper, bronze, or brass body finished with fused glass enamel, paired with brass fittings and modernised electrical wiring.

Look for signs of hand-painted details, minor surface crazing or small chips in the vitreous enamel, heavier cast-metal weighted bases, and evidence of historical re-wiring.

Place them symmetrically on a sideboard, console table, or matching bedside tables to add visual texture, historical warmth, and patterned interest to clean modern decor.

Dust the enamel bases gently with a soft dry cloth, avoiding harsh chemicals, moisture, or abrasive polishers that could damage the enamel or patina.
