This Edwardian trinket box takes the form of a cylindrical vanity jar made from sterling silver, clear cut glass, and enamel. The clear glass body features intricate diamond cutting, whilst the round sterling silver lid displays clear hallmarks, a gadrooned rim border, and a central blue floral enamel roundel. Measuring 7.5 cm high, 6.5 cm wide, and 6.5 cm deep, this piece serves as a practical storage accessory on a bedside table for small jewellery, hairpins, or trinkets. In a contemporary home, it functions equally well on a dressing table or bathroom shelf to keep small items organised while adding a touch of classic English country house style to the interior.

An Edwardian silver vanity jar is a small lidded container produced during the reign of King Edward VII (19011910), designed to sit on a dressing table to hold powders, pins, or small items of jewellery.

These jars traditionally combine heavy lead crystal or cut glass bases with hallmarked sterling silver caps, occasionally featuring guilloche or champleve enamel decoration.

Authentic British silver items from this era feature full official assay hallmarks stamped into the metal, including a lion passant for sterling purity, an assay office mark, a date letter, and a makers mark.

Display the pot on a bedside table, dressing table, or bathroom counter to provide functional storage for rings and small items while adding a vintage metallic accent to the space.

Clean the glass base using warm water and mild soap, while gently buffing the silver lid with a silver polishing cloth, taking care not to submerge or apply harsh chemicals to the enamel central plaque.
