This unusual English sterling silver medicine spoon dates from the 1930 Art Deco period. The item displays a bright silver finish with smooth reflective surfaces, a long tapered flat handle, a covered bowl section, and a small pouring spout at the tip. The solid sterling silver piece includes a clear set of hallmarks stamped on the metal surface near the bowl and shows no visible signs of dings, slits, or previous repairs. It measures 13.9 cm long by 3 cm wide at its widest point and weighs 26 grams. This functional piece belongs in a gentleman's library setting. It functions well as a decorative display object on a bookshelf or within a specialized collection of medical antiques.

A silver medicine spoon was designed with a partially covered bowl or spout to allow liquid treatment to be administered to bedridden patients or children without spillage.

These utensils were commonly crafted from sterling silver or electroplated nickel silver due to the materials hygiene, durability, and resistance to corrosion.

Authentic pieces feature official assay hallmarks indicating metal purity, maker marks, and specific date letters, alongside functional forms like hooded bowls or spouts.

It can be styled inside a glass display case, framed within a shadow box, or arranged on a shelf alongside historical books and medical collectables.

Gently wipe the surface using a soft microfibre cloth and a dedicated silver polish, avoiding abrasive scrubbers that could obscure delicate assay hallmarks.
