Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This mid-19th-century centre stool is a Rococo Revival piece made from walnut and velvet with blue and brown colours. It has serpentine friezes with carved central motifs, cabriole legs with scroll toes, and a vivid blue velvet plush top with contrasting blue braid trim. The frame is finished in a warm brown wood tone, supported on shapely cabriole feet, and decorated with intricate scroll carvings along the apron. It measures 45 cm high, 100 cm wide, and 60 cm deep, offering a flat profile. In a modern home, this ottoman serves well as a coffee table or a footstool at the foot of the bed. It provides a practical surface for everyday use while adding a traditional English country house feel to a living room, dressing room, or bedroom. The sturdy freestanding construction and plush upholstery combine seating comfort with the functionality of a low table.

A centre stool, popular during the Victorian period, is a substantial upholstered seat designed to be positioned centrally within a drawing room or bedroom rather than set against a wall.

Mid-19th-century stools were constructed with solid timber frames, frequently carved from walnut or mahogany, and upholstered using natural horsehair padding covered in fabrics such as velvet, silk, or needlework.

Authentic Rococo Revival furniture features hand-carved foliate scrolls, deeply swept cabriole legs, traditional mortise and tenon joinery, and original patination on the timber surfaces.

An antique centre stool can be placed at the foot of a bed, positioned in a large dressing room, or styled as a central low table alternative topped with a flat decorative tray.

Dust the carved walnut framework regularly using a soft cloth, apply natural beeswax sparingly to maintain the finish, and gently vacuum velvet upholstery with a soft brush attachment.
