Edwardian design, spanning the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, frequently reflects a lighter, more refined aesthetic compared to the heavier Victorian style, drawing inspiration from earlier Georgian and eighteenth-century motifs.

These items typically incorporated blown or moulded glass bodies, often featuring frosted or coloured finishes, combined with sterling silver collars and lids, and occasionally detailed with hand-applied enamel decoration.

Authenticity is generally verified through clear hallmarks stamped on the silver components, indicating the assay office, standard mark, makers mark, and date letter corresponding to the early twentieth century.

Such pieces can be displayed in a curated grouping on a dressing table, within a glass-fronted cabinet, or atop a mirrored tray to highlight their craftsmanship and colour.

Preservation involves dusting the glass gently with a soft cloth and avoiding abrasive silver polishes that might damage delicate enamel work or hallmarks on the metallic mounts.
