Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century Napoleon III footstool displays a round form upholstered in neutral calico and textured hessian over exposed stuffing. The dark ebonised frame incorporates curved cabriole legs supported by small brass castors, whilst metal tacks secure the lower white border to the timber base. Measuring 46 cm high, 56 cm wide and 56 cm deep, the piece occupies minimal floor space. Position this stool in a traditional bedroom at the foot of the bed or as an occasional seat in a living room. The neutral colour palette complements varied interior schemes in a French chateau setting, bringing period character and practical seating to the home.

FAQs

Nineteenth-century French stools typically feature curved cabriole legs, ebonised or gilded timber finishes, and stuffed upholstery designed for boudoirs or drawing rooms.

Traditional French footstools utilise carved hardwood frames, ebonised lacquers, brass castors, and internal upholstery layers of hessian, horsehair, and webbing.

Authentic pieces display hand-carved cabriole legs, traditional joinery, original brass castors, and layered upholstery techniques such as hand-stitched hessian edging.

Deconstructed stools add tactile texture to contemporary living spaces when placed alongside modern sofas, integrated into minimalist bedrooms, or left as sculptural accent pieces.

Preserve antique stools by keeping them away from direct sunlight and heat sources, gently dusting timber frames, and consulting a professional restorer for upholstery conservation.
