A navette ring, meaning little ship in French, features an elongated, boat-shaped cluster head. This style gained immense popularity during the Georgian and Victorian eras, particularly in the late 19th century.

Victorian rings of this period were predominantly crafted from 18ct or 15ct yellow gold, often featuring silver-topped settings to enhance the whiteness of the diamonds. Stones were typically hand-set with grain or collet settings.

Authentic pieces often feature hand-cut stones such as old mine cuts or old European cuts with characteristic chunky facets, closed-back settings in older periods, and hand-engraved shank details without modern laser hallmarks.

An antique gold cluster ring makes a striking standalone statement piece or can be paired with plain, slim gold wedding bands to highlight its intricate historical craftsmanship.

Due to their age and delicate settings, antique rings should be cleaned professionally using ultrasonic-free methods, stored individually in soft pouches, and checked periodically by a jeweller for loose stones.
