FAQs

Art Deco emerged in France during the 1910s and flourished internationally during the 1920s and 1930s, characterised by sleek geometric shapes, streamlined forms, and modern industrial materials.

Makers typically utilised base metals such as brass, bronze, or copper finished with silver plating, often employing casting, spinning, and hand-polishing techniques to achieve a mirror-like sheen.

Authentic period pieces often feature hallmark stamps, wear consistent with age including minor oxidisation or base metal telegraphing, and traditional weighted bases with period wiring components.

These pieces function well as sculptural accents on sideboards, consoles, or bedside tables, contrasting against tactile materials like dark timber, marble, or textured fabrics.

Use a soft, lint-free cloth with specialised silver cleaner sparingly to avoid wearing through the plating, and refrain from using harsh abrasives or chemical dips.
