FAQs

Edwardian silver and tableware, produced during the reign of King Edward VII between 1901 and 1910, typically features lighter, more graceful proportions influenced by neoclassical motifs, moving away from the heavier ornamentation of the late Victorian era.

These services traditionally combined a base of electroplated nickel silver for the bowls and blades with natural nacre, commonly known as mother-of-pearl, for the carved handles.

Authentic pieces often feature makers marks or EPNS stamps on the metal components, hand-carved natural mother-of-pearl handles with slight variations, and original fitted presentation cases lined with velvet or silk.

Such cased sets can be displayed open on a sideboard or within a glass-fronted cabinet to showcase the vibrant velvet lining and lustrous pearl handles, adding texture and historic interest to modern dining spaces.

Items should be washed by hand in warm soapy water without harsh abrasives, dried thoroughly immediately after washing, and stored in a tarnish-resistant lined case away from direct sunlight and extreme humidity.
