We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. Secure Transit

FAQs

Victorian furniture encompasses a range of revival styles influenced by historicism, featuring dense hardwoods like mahogany and rosewood, ornate carvings, and robust structural proportions tailored for formal domestic interiors.

Cabinet makers typically utilised dense tropical hardwoods such as rosewood and mahogany, employing dovetail joinery for drawers, hand-cut secondary softwoods for internal framing, and traditional shellac French polish finishes.

Authenticity is determined by examining timber shrinkage, hand-cut dovetails, tool marks on secondary woods, appropriate patination, and period-correct hardware attachments rather than modern screws.

Pairing a dark wood antique bookcase with minimalist modern seating and neutral walls creates a balanced contrast, grounding contemporary living spaces with historical texture and warmth.

Maintain stable indoor humidity levels, keep the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent wood splitting, and clean periodically with a soft, dry cloth without using modern silicone-based polishes.
