Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A chamberstick is a short candlestick fitted with a wide drip pan and a loop handle, designed to be carried around a home or up stairs during the 18th and 19th centuries. Pieces from the George III period are particularly noted for their fine craftsmanship, classical proportions, and the inclusion of matching extinguishers.

These items are traditionally crafted from sterling silver, often marked with standard British hallmarks indicating the assay office, maker, and date. Construction typically involved casting components like the base and socket separately before soldering or assembling them, frequently featuring applied wire rims and chased ornamentation.

Authentic pieces exhibit clear punch marks, including the makers mark, lion passant for sterling silver, date letter, and sovereigns head. Genuine items also show period-appropriate wear, hand-finishing details such as filed edges, and heavier gauges of metal compared to modern reproductions.

This piece can be styled on a mantelpiece, sideboard, or occasional table to introduce a reflective metallic accent and historical contrast. Its polished silver surface pairs effectively with both dark, moody backdrops and minimalist contemporary spaces.

Sterling silver should be cleaned periodically using a specialist non-abrasive silver polish to remove tarnish without scratching the soft metal. It should be stored in a dry environment and handled with clean cloths or cotton gloves to prevent skin oils from accelerating oxidation.
