Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Art Nouveau movement, prominent from the late 19th century to the First World War, is characterised by organic motifs, flowing asymmetrical lines inspired by natural forms, and a departure from historic revival styles.

These pieces were typically crafted from sterling silver using traditional silversmithing techniques such as hand-raising, spinning, chasing, and repousse, often finished with polished surfaces and cast decorative handles or feet.

Authenticity is verified through official hallmarks stamped on the metal, which indicate the assay office (such as Edinburgh), the standard of silver, the makers mark, and a date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture.

An antique silver bowl can be displayed on a dining table as a centrepiece, placed on a sideboard for reflective contrast, or used to hold seasonal items, pairing well with both minimalist and traditional schemes.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly with a specialist non-abrasive silver polish, handled with cotton gloves to prevent skin oils from causing tarnishing, and stored in a low-humidity environment.
