A gypsy ring typically features stones flush-set or star-set into a heavy, tapered band that thickens towards the centre, a style that became immensely popular during the late Victorian era in Britain.

These rings were commonly crafted from high-carat gold, such as 18ct, and frequently set with contrasting gemstones like turquoise, diamonds, rubies, or pearls, often punctuated with hand-engraved star motifs.

Authenticity is typically verified through hallmarks indicating metal purity and date of manufacture, alongside characteristic hand-crafted details like flush-setting, irregular stone cuts, and natural age-related patina on the metal.

Antique rings can be worn stacked with contemporary minimalist bands for a contrasting mixed-era look, or worn alone as a singular statement piece on the hand.

Turquoise is a relatively soft, porous gemstone that should never be exposed to harsh chemical cleaners, ultrasonic machines, or prolonged moisture, and should be stored separately to prevent scratching.
