This 1910 silver gilt and guilloche enamel pendant brooch originates from the Art Nouveau era within the Scandinavian Arts and Crafts style, measuring 88 mm in length. The piece consists of articulated sections displaying deep red enamel set against a textured gold-finished metal framework. Detailed filigree scrollwork surrounds central diamond-shaped motifs, complemented by engine-turned patterns within the enamel panels and suspended conical drop dangles hanging from small jump rings. Fully stamped to the reverse for 930S and the maker's mark, the item exhibits an intact polished finish across both the metallic mounts and the glassy red surfaces. Wear can be observed in the light oxidation along the filigree wire twists and the reverse pin hardware. The jewel functions primarily as a wearable accessory or costume embellishment, suitable for display within a collection or personal wardrobe.

Marius Hammer was an influential Norwegian silversmith based in Bergen who specialised in filigree and guilloche enamel work during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, playing a pivotal role in the Scandinavian Arts and Crafts movement.

These items were predominantly constructed from sterling or 830 grade silver, overlaid with a thin layer of gold gilding, and adorned with vitreous enamel fused over precise geometric engine-turned patterns.

Authentic items by this maker typically display distinctive hallmark stamps, such as the maker mark featuring a hammer motif or an M, accompanied by standard Scandinavian silver purity stamps such as 830S or 925S.

Dual-function pendant brooches can be worn attached to coat lapels, woven scarves, or velvet chokers, as well as suspended from a fine silver or gold chain to serve as a focal necklace.

Maintain enamel jewellery by gently dusting with a soft lint-free cloth, keeping metal polish away from enamel surfaces, and avoiding exposure to moisture, harsh chemicals, or ultrasonic cleaners that might crack the glass fill.
