The Adams style, popularized in late 18th-century Britain by the Adam brothers, draws heavily on classical Greek and Roman architecture, featuring symmetrical proportions, neoclassical motifs such as urns and swags, and refined elegance.

Traditional tea urns were often fabricated from copper, brass, or Britannia metal, then finished with silver plating using early methods such as Sheffield plate or later electroplating techniques, complemented by cast handles and spigots.

Authenticity is typically verified by examining manufacturer hallmarks, base metal bleed-through where silver plating has worn thin, hand-chased engraving details, and traditional construction methods like pegged or soldered joints.

An antique metal urn can be used as a striking focal point on a sideboard or console table, contrasting effectively against minimalist backgrounds or paired with contemporary ceramics to create textural depth.

Silver plating requires gentle cleaning with a specialized non-abrasive silver polish and a soft microfibre cloth to remove tarnish without abrading the thin layer of precious metal, avoiding harsh chemical dips.
