Eighteenth-century English wine glasses are characterised by distinct stem formations, such as air twists, opaque twists, and faceted designs, reflecting the evolution of glassmaking technology and taxation laws of the period.

These pieces were typically crafted from lead glass, introduced in the late seventeenth century, which provided greater clarity, weight, and durability compared to contemporary continental potash glass.

Authenticity is determined by examining pontil marks on the base, wear patterns on the foot rim, chemical composition testing, and characteristic tool marks consistent with eighteenth-century hand-blown manufacturing techniques.

Antique stemware can be displayed within enclosed glass cabinetry or styled on open shelving to highlight historical craftsmanship alongside contemporary minimalist decor.

Antique glass should be washed strictly by hand using lukewarm water and mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and abrasive materials to protect the delicate surface.
