We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian silver-mounted glassware combines mouth-blown or moulded glass vessels with hallmarked sterling silver collars, mounts, and stoppers, reflecting the high craftsmanship and refined dining habits of the late 19th century.

These pieces were typically crafted using free-blown or mould-blown glass, often incorporating techniques such as acid-etching or wheel-engraving to create frosted decorative motifs, complemented by hand-forged sterling silver fittings.

Authentic pieces feature crisp silver hallmarks stamped directly onto the metal mounts, usually including a makers mark, a standard mark, a city assay office mark, and a date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture.

An antique decanter can be displayed on a bar cart, sideboard, or open shelving to introduce historical texture, colour, and metallic shine into a modern living space.

Wash the glass gently in lukewarm water using mild dish soap, avoiding harsh abrasives that could damage the etchings. Polish the silver mounts sparingly with a soft microfibre cloth and specialised silver cream, keeping moisture away from any historic cork or adhesive components.
