Georgian storm lamps and shades emerged during the 18th century to protect candle flames from draughts in hallways and dining rooms, reflecting advancements in glassblowing techniques of the period.

These pieces were typically crafted from potash or lead glass using mouth-blowing techniques, often featuring a folded rim, a polished pontil mark on the base, and slight bubbles or striations inherent to early glass manufacture.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit characteristic irregularities such as uneven thickness, tiny trapped air bubbles, and a rough or polished pontil scar at the underside of the base.

It can be placed on a dining table or mantelpiece with a pillar candle inside, introducing tactile historic texture and transparent volume to modern spaces.

Clean gently with lukewarm water and mild soap using a soft cloth, avoiding abrasive pads or harsh chemical cleaners to protect the fragile historic glass surface.
