A rummer is a heavy, large-bowled drinking glass that gained popularity in Britain during the late 18th and 19th centuries, commonly used for serving ale, wine, or punch.

These vessels were typically hand-blown from lead glass or flint glass, often featuring wheel-engraved ornamentation, faceted stems, and a folded or plain foot.

Authenticity is assessed by examining pontil marks on the base, minor irregularities or air bubbles inherent to hand-blowing, weight, and the characteristic greyish tone of period lead glass.

Antique drinking glasses can be displayed inside glass-fronted cabinets, used as tabletop centrepieces, or styled on open shelving to introduce historical texture and craftsmanship to a room.

Antique glass should be washed by hand in lukewarm water using mild detergent, avoiding sudden temperature changes and abrasive materials to protect the delicate surface and engraving.
