FAQs

Art Deco lighting emerged in the 1920s and 1930s, characterised by sleek geometric shapes, stylised figural representations, and luxurious materials such as bronze, chrome, and frosted glass.

Traditional construction often involved cast metals like bronze or spelter with silvered or gilt finishes, mounted on heavy bases of marble or onyx, paired with molded glass shades.

Authentic pieces typically feature period casting techniques, artist signatures or foundry marks, heavy patinated metalwork, and characteristic stylistic motifs of the interwar period.

This type of statement lighting functions effectively as a focal point on a credenza, side table, or mantelpiece, contrasting cleanly against minimalist or maximalist contemporary backdrops.

Preservation requires dusting with a soft dry cloth, avoiding harsh chemical polishes that can strip original patination, and having the electrical wiring professionally tested for safety.
